The Queen opening the schoolHer Majesty Queen Elizabeth opened the site on 2 June 1995. An ideal training or meeting venue based in Portishead and within easy reach of Bristol. Offering some of the best and most up-to-date facilities in the region, including meeting rooms, conference facilities, IT training classrooms and a Lecture Theatre capable of seating 135. Onsite residential suites, visitors’ rooms, onsite restaurant with free WiFi and a Costa Coffee complex make this an ideal venue for your next meeting.

 

RESTAURANT

Our onsite fully equipped restaurant seats 135 people where you can purchase or take your own food. You can either sit indoors, in the conservatory or outside overlooking the grounds.
There is also a Costa Coffee outlet, and a small bar which opens in the evenings Monday to Thursday for those staying residential, as well as an on-site cash machine.

LECTURE THEATRE

The Training School has a lecture theatre capable of seating 135 people, all with an excellent view of the presentation area and screen thanks to the banked seating. Modern up to date audio facilities and disabled access provides for an excellent venue for conferences, award ceremonies, meetings or charity fashion shows.

In order to be able to provide suitable training facilities throughout the Avon and Somerset area, the ICT Training Unit has its own mobile training classroom – a bus that was converted and fitted out to meet our own specifications for training delivery and comfort. Unfortunately, at this time the bus is not available to hire.

ACCOMMODATION

As well as business areas such as training rooms and offices, the site includes accommodation blocks with bright and airy rooms. The rooms are presently undergoing  a refurbishment programme to offer en-suite bathrooms in each room.
Each block has a common room with TV and disabled showers on the ground floor.

We have over 20 classrooms of varying sizes housing the latest technological aids to learning including immersive training that places the student at the heart of the scenario. Some rooms have comfort seating with large plasma screen and computer, others have 8-10 PC workstations for software application training.

LEARNING RESOURCE CENTRE

A well equipped Learning  Resource Centre (LRC) is located on-site which holds an extensive collection of publications including a large section on management, self-development and learning. A wide range of Blackstone Police publications including the Practical Policing series are also available.
